Quick Tips on Horse Riding Lessons In Brisbane

Learning to ride a horse takes time. No matter whether you are an adult or teaching your kid to learn to ride the horse, you need to spend a significant amount of time before becoming a pro. There are numerous trainers and instructors in Brisbane who can walk you through the process. At least, I had my first lessons in Brisbane, and there was always a coach by my side. So, here’s what I learned during my initial days.

Mounting up

Tie and groom the horse and saddle up for your first ride. Hop up in one go. It takes a few attempts to master the stunt, but you will eventually get used to it. If you are not too tall, get a stool. That’s what I do whenever I have to get on a horse.

Once you mount up, you would want to race ahead. But, that’s not how it works. Take things slowly. You need to sit properly in the saddle before starting your ride.

Your first walk on

I felt unbalanced and awkward when the horse started walking. It felt like going up and down frequently. And don’t even get me started about my back pain after a day’s riding. But, I realized that I need to keep up with the to and fro movement. Since you don’t walk that way, it takes time for you to understand the movements of a horse.

Walking and turning the horse

Once you cross the first few days of adjusting life on the saddle, you need to learn the cues to walk and turn the horse. A little pull on the rein indicates the horse to walk slowly. You should use a direct rein if you want it to turn. However, this is the English way of turning.

If you are looking for Horse Riding Lessons In Brisbane really be careful when it comes to choosing who you go with as a good coach makes all the difference.

Effective Mould Removal Methods

Mould is a fungus that grows in dump areas, either outdoor or indoor. Such an environment is conducive, and once they land on any spot, the growth rate accelerates hence spreading around. It is easy to recognise them as they appear like a stain or discolouration. The common types are either black, white, or green.

Although they seem insignificant, continuous exposure to these organisms leads to nasal congestion, constant coughs, difficulty in breathing, among other respiratory infections. Anyone can suffer from these problems, but people with an interfered immunity or those predisposed to allergies and asthma can experience adverse effects. Once you notice such characteristics, it should be an alarm that requires safety measures undertaken immediately.

When these organisms infest your house, it imperative that you opt for the quickest and effective mould removal methods. A combination of chlorine and bleach has proven to kill these items, thus preventing further growth instantly. Also, it disinfects the area and eliminates any other types of fungi. However, this method is only sustainable in places like the kitchen or bathroom where there are tiles. Any site that has wood will call for an alternative method since bleach can not penetrate. Another option is using vinegar as it has some acidic properties. Vinegar is affordable and does not expose you to harmful fumes. It is ideal for sinks and bathtubs.

Since mould stains surfaces, use a brush to scrub it off then apply some baking soda for a period of up to two hours. This item acts as a disinfectant, thus improving your cleaning effort. It is safe as it does not emit any scents. Nevertheless, you can always opt for preventive measures as they are cheaper and convenient. Mould removal will no longer be a problem once there is no trace of moisture in the targeted areas.

The Downturn in Toowoomba, Queensland

Toowoomba in the Southeast of Queensland is seeing the effects of the mining and investment slow down trickle through their community with many Toowoomba businesses laying off employees.

Toowoomba has been impacted by the coal mining downturn in the Bowen and Galilee basins, The Chronicle reported.

Toowoomba-based company Russell Mineral Equipment cut 13 engineering jobs yesterday. The company’s general manager Peter Rubie said the job cuts were unfortunate but indicative of the company’s position.

“We have had a reduction in demand for our mill relining machines,” Rubie said. “It was a very difficult decision for us. We are a very tight-knit company that value its employees. However, due to the sharp drop-off in the mining sector we were unable to maintain those staffing levels.

“The downturn in the mining sector is definitely starting to take an effect,” he said. Another Toowoomba company, Gieger Civil and Engineering, cut 20 jobs earlier this month after losing an Ergon Energy contract due to the slowdown in mining activity.

The company’s managing director John Geiger said yesterday the company was still optimistic on its prospects despite the mining slowdown.

“We had a long-term contract that finished last month,” Geiger said.

“Unfortunately it was not renewed so therefore we had to release 20 employees. On the positive side we were able to retain 20 employees associated with the contract,” he said.

Brisbane Commercial Cleaners that are cleaning up

Businesses that are reliant upon the massive numbers of coal workers across Australia concentrated in regions that have either sprung up over the last decade or have grown from small existing regional cities and towns to now be thriving metropolises have also given rise to many small to medium sized businesses that support the people in and around the industry.

The list of types of businesses that have taken advantage of this growth can be found across many varied industries including; Retail, Consulting, Manufacturing, Hospitality and Health and Medical to name just a few.

All this industries have business within them that employ a range of different professions and conduct business from a range of different premises, buildings, factories and so on.

Often unthought about when conducting business is the need to have our work environment kept cleaned properly. For most businesses the premises where they conduct their business is a reflection of them, either good or bad, to their customers or clients and it is often the case that the cleaning responsibilities are left to a junior employee or the owner themselves.

We spoke with the CEO of a prominent Queensland-based, Commercial Cleaning Brisbane business, Scott MacDonald from Just Cleaning, about how they have increased their service offering into the mining regions across the state and what types of businesses they now service.

“With the influx of workers into different regions we have found that one of the industries that has grown and benefited the greatest is the hospitality industry. Let’s face it most mine workers don’t mind a drink and something to eat after they knock off work! So the Pubs, Clubs, Cafes and Restaurants in and around the small regional towns, associated with mining, have all experienced the growth in their businesses” Mr. MacDonald explained.

Just Cleaning are a specialist Commercial Cleaners Brisbane but servicing the whole country so they have seen for themselves the growth in regional areas due to the mining boom.  They employ cleaners to facilitate their cleaning services and deliver high quality results for their customers.

Health of your Eyes. A business driven by the coal industry

Eyes R Us Optometrist Mackay are a business based in the Northern Queensland town that has been driven by the mining boom for the past decade. They have seen the rise in workers regularly appearing for an Eye test to ensure that their Eye health is properly maintained.

The conditions and environment that coal workers work in presents diverse and challenging circumstances that can effect not only the health of the workers vision but their health in general.

It is a little known fact that the moving between a dark environment into sunny conditions exposes your eyes to harmful UVA and UVB rays that can cause damaged in a number of different ways. Add to this the constant exposure to dust and coal fragments and coal workers eyes are taking on far more adversity than the average worker.

Speaking with the head Optometrist at Eyes R Us not only about how he treats and helps a long list of coal workers but also how his business is now surviving the mining down turn made for an interesting conversation.

The Doctor explained, “Coal workers and miners in general in the past few years are required to adhere to very strict workplace Health and Safety regulations that included Eye protection procedures, however even with these measures their Eyes are still exposed to adverse conditions that the general public aren’t”

“Miners now appear more regularly at our clinic to get Eye tests so that any adverse effects can be counteracted before they become more serious.”

“We have seen that workers presenting at our clinic have a range of conditions that we have treated with simple procedures such as glasses or contact lenses right through to having them referred to an Eye Specialist for more extreme cases.” he went on to explain.

When asked about how his business was surviving with the downturn his reaction wasn’t as positive.

“Mackay as a town was not as hassling with activity as it was at the height of the mining boom. Patients that we saw on a yearly bases have dropped off in numbers. Basically the miners that have been laid off have left the region and moved on. Our patient numbers have fallen dramatically and business in now far tougher than it has been in the past.” he said.

“While there will always be a need for good Optometrists to service the needs of the general public we are now challenge to deliver a high quality service offering at a reduced cost to be competitive in the market. With the miners leaving Mackay the business is also leaving. We will struggle through the tough times and hopefully we will see another resurgence some time soon.”

Marketing makes a difference

With the downturn in the industry communities have felt the flow on effects with a lot of local businesses baring the brunt and financial cost. Small business owners that have built their businesses in and around mine workers are now faced with the uncertainty of not knowing if they will survive through the depletion of numbers of workers, in some areas by up to 80%. Cities across the nation have seen the growth times bring products and service to them that they may have never seen before but now find they have become part of the fabric of their cities. Coalworks.com.au asked the question of these businesses “how are they going to survive now the numbers are just not there?”

The answer is quite simply that they need to spread their reach further, think outside their immediate surrounding region and gather customers from further a field or they will not survive. But how?
